Mathews Outdoor Club co-hosts the 1.776 Mile History Walk/Run

This Independence Day, the Mathews Outdoor Club (MOC) is proud to serve as event facilitator for a unique and meaningful community event—the 1.776 Mile History Walk/Run—taking place on July 4, 2026 at 10:30 AM.

Hosted at Put-In Creek Park in the heart of Historic Mathews Courthouse, this free event brings together residents and visitors to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary through movement, local history, and shared celebration.

The 1.776-mile distance is more than symbolic—it offers an accessible, family-friendly route that encourages participation from all ages and ability levels. Whether walking, jogging or running, participants will engage with the spirit of the nation’s founding while enjoying the scenic and historic setting of Mathews.

As event facilitator, Mathews Outdoor Club is coordinating logistics, route support, and participant experience to ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-organized event.

Post-Event Celebration

Following the walk/run, participants are invited to stay and enjoy food and refreshment, music, giveaways and community engagement.

This post-event gathering – hosted by the Cricket Hill Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) reinforces the event’s goal: bringing people together to celebrate both national heritage and local community.
