April 10, 2021. That was the date of Mathews Co Spring Clean of the area roadsides, and as with previous years, the MOC was present and contributing in the effort. Mathews Outdoor Club (MOC) has participated in Virginia DOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program for five years, selecting a 2 mile section along busy Route 14 in Mathews County.
The Spring Clean Day was not too different from prior years: the weather was decent and the litter was abundant. The MOC crew worked for 3.5 hours and filled 15 large trash bags with roadside debris – the section of Rte 14 by Mathews Co landfill looked much improved – at least for a spell.

Remember to follow the MOC on Facebook or Instagram to find out when our next roadside pickup will be held and join us in the effort. We take pride in the way the community appears for our visitors – and we get lots of “warm fuzzies” from folks waving & beeping support as they pass.
