One of the most requested enhancements to last year’s Mathews Marathon was to add a relay option. New in 2022: introducing the Mathews Marathon Relay – ideal for a 5-person team (options for 2, 3 & 4 person teams too). Which relay leg is right for you?
Leg 1 – 5.8 Miles
Leg 2 – 5.5 Miles
Leg 3 – 3.9 Miles
Leg 4 – 6.8 Miles
Leg 5 – 4.2 Miles

Check the event page (URL above) for more details on the relay option – including a registration link for your 2-5 member team. The route map also shows our recommended transition points: the backroads in Mathews County offer amazing scenery but they don’t offer wide shoulders or a lot of convenient pullover spots for transitions. The points we’ve selected are your best opportunities for safely stopping your vehicle out of traffic.
